  • What should I write?

Posted on April 14th, 2011 Andreas Linder 2 comments

I noticed that I am getting more and more readers of my blog and I’m thinking to myself, what should I write that they would find interesting?

I have quite a few articles lined up, but struggling with time to finish them. Sometimes it’s easier to write shorter posts when you have a clear idea on what to write.

So, my question to you is this… what would you like to know about being a foreigner living in Malaysia?

Please comment on this post with suggestions and I will try to write about them all.

    Cheers!

    1. Hi.

I don’t know if you covered this, as I’ve just arrived at your blog. I’m a freelance graphic designer and I have also been a teacher at a small university in Lisbon, teaching vector design (Ai basically). It is possible that I will move to KL in the near future, and at this point I’m just starting my research into… everything. đŸ˜€
Can an expat graphic designer/teacher make a good living in KL, even by european standards? Salaries, cost of living, etc? Thanks.

    2. Hi Vasco,
No the subject you mentioned I have not covered yet. Quite specific I would say, but I will do my best to answer you.

The quick answer is that if you move here to KL just to try your luck you have to be prepared to start your career in Malaysia as a non equal. Same salary as locals but with higher expectations. From there you would have to work your way up and/or network to move on. (this is the way I went)

However if you manage to get a job in your country that requires you to be stationed in Malaysia it is a completely different story. Life like this could be a very pleasant experience.

I’d be happy to share what I know but it easier not doing it through comments on my blog. Send me your Skype details on my contact form and I’ll get in touch with you.

      Cheers
      Andreas
