A pain(t)ful Saturday @ Tanamera paintball park
Posted on May 26th, 2009 10 comments
Steven and Jonas on a call of duty
And so the big day came, that so many of us have waited for, for so long. Yet again we awoke too early for a Saturday morning and went sleepily to Tanamera paintball park in Sungai Buloh about 30 minutes drive from IKEA. At 0900 hours we arrived and yet again we were the first people to arrive on the scene. This time we managed to get together a group of 24 players, quite a crowd compared to last time. We even got our own war correspondent, my fiancee Zel
Thanks to her we got over 170 pictures of our little adventure, and 2 movies to go with it. Most of you probably think, enough talk oredi, show us the pictures, so here is the entire gallery of 170 pics and the rest of the story is below. Enjoy

Coming soon, yet another pain(t)ful event
Posted on May 12th, 2009 1 commentIt was a while ago we played paintball and we got the bruises we still remember. Still, the minute we brought up the subject of going back for another event, all my friends became very “kanchong” (Cantonese and means excited more or less).
I guess that the adrenaline rush and the fun we have is more than enough to forget the pain, exhaustion and dehydration it causes. Anyway… 23rd of May is the date of the event. This time we will have a dedicated photographer with us, so hopefully I have even better pictures to post compared to last time.

Redesign of DiGiTAL-OSMOSiS
Posted on April 10th, 2009 6 commentsAbout a month ago I upgraded my Wordpress blog and BAM! All of a sudden some elements on the blog went haywire. I also was looking at adding some functionality but soon found out that the template I was using for my design was not compatible… *sigh* Well, ours truly felt the fingers itching and started to look for a solid template to build a new design.
What you see now is the fruit of the labour, although the site is far from finished. I will step by step upgrade the design until I’m happy with it. The new layout is good though and I hope you share my opinion. Big thanks to the My Mobile team who put together a solid base for me to build my design.
The logo has also seen some upgrading to better fit in with a more web 2.0 look and feel and is now a metallic version.
I’ll keep you updated on any further changes.

Lion Dance
Posted on March 31st, 2009 1 comment
Lion dance on poles
This is definitely something you should experience while in Asia if you have the chance. The lion dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture, in which performers mimic a lion’s movements in a lion costume. This symbolic ceremony is used to summon good luck and fortune for (most often) business owners, that pay professional lion dancers to bless their business. Together with the lion dancer(s) comes a team of “musicians” playing drums and cymbals. It’s also very common to use long bands of firecrackers at this ceremony although I’m unfamiliar of the symbolism of this. Anyway, I think you can imagine that this is a pretty loud festivity albeit a very fascinating one.

58 degrees North - action movie short
Posted on March 29th, 2009 1 comment58° North is sort of a big shoot out scene that could fit into any action feature of the cinemas today. At first we planned this to be an experiment with digital visual effects. But we had so much fun, that it evolved to become a short movie

Malacca, small but happening
Posted on January 17th, 2009 No commentsI know it doesn’t happen often, but yours truly acted as a tourist more or less this time. This is something I just have to share. We went balik kampung to Malacca or Melaka as the original name is. Balik kampung is Bahasa Melayu and means go back to the village, meaning your hometown. In Malacca my fiancé’s uncle lives with his family and we kind of invited ourselves there during a long weekend. I didn’t know much of this place, except that it had fantastic seafood. That was all about to change… When we arrived in an early Saturday morning we got a royal welcome and we had a great time there…

My office @ Soft Touch Malaysia
Posted on November 22nd, 2008 3 commentsWell, no story about me would be complete without telling about where I spend the majority of my time when I’m not home. I’m also sure that even if most of you may know I got a new job over here, the details about what I really do is a bit fuzzy. So… I thought I’d take you on a little tour to where I work.

Getting the flu in a tropical country
Posted on November 19th, 2008 2 commentsBefore I was in Japan I thought it wasn’t possible to catch a cold in such a warm country. I know now how wrong I was and how easy it is. There are basically two ways you can go about getting it, either by catching a flu, or by the famous aircon cold. Well, at the time when I’m writing this, I caught a flu which is a small relief since the aircon cold is so unnecessary…

Waging war on design
Posted on November 15th, 2008 2 commentsIsn’t it great that we have a choice of what web browser we wanna use? Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox or whichever suits your taste buds. Well… us designers don’t really share the same enthusiasm on that for one simple reason. The websites we design and create don’t look the same in all the web browsers.
The reason why? Well it’s complicated but you can see for yourself by looking at my blog in Internet Explorer and another browser of your choice and compare.
